Action Item for all Light Buffalos... Get the word out...

AT EASE! LISTEN UP! First rank go ahead and take a knee...

Brothers - Since Don Shook very kindly started this blog for us, he has brought in additional administrators to keep the posts going. We'll keep the pics, updates and stories going up - but we need you to help us broaden the blog-audience and measure it. And we are asking for your content as well - pics, other documents and maps, and your own stories as you recall them. The object of the blog is to bring Lightfighter Buffalos together in the same webspace. Sort of like a place to go for a 'virtual reunion' anytime you like. Here's your mission...

PRIMARY MISSION
1. Email the blog address to every LightBuffalo you know. Tell them to come check out the blog. When you send this eMail out be sure to copy Don Shook. Don's eMail address if deshook@7thinfantry.com . And you and everyone that you refer to the site should CLICK the COMMENTS link for this post and leave your name for us. We need to know who and how many are visiting and reading. All of the guys you send this advisory email to, should in turn, send out the same email to all the Buffs they know. And so on. I say again, it is important for us to know who and how many LightBuffalos and friends are visiting this blog-site.

SECONDARY MISSIONS

2. Email or snail mail pics and documents to Don Shook for inclusion in his unofficial LightBuffalo archives and possible use on this blog or one of the official 7th Division or 17th Infantry websites. If you snail mail it, Don will scan it and return the originals to you.3. Got a story you want to tell in its own post? Not a problem - eMail it to me in a Word document or eMail body, rds@blue-network.com and i will copy edit your original story, send it to you for final approval, and then we'll post it under your name. Include pictures in the email to me and we'll include those with your story. I know you got stories or funny facts. Long or short, tales are part of what we gather.

Here's an example of an interesting side note or story that might be posted:At H-hour in OpJustCause 4/17 Sniper Team #2 is supporting C Co, 1st PLT assault at Coco Solo PDF boat-dock facilities. CPL Sibley was using his M24 system until his spotter SPC Nelson called out some bad guys running thru some bushes at about 200M in the semi-darkness. The two snipers put down their Sniper systems and grabbed up their M16s for a full mag each of 5.56 into these bushes - search and traverse. Then they were supposed to reload the M16's, set them down and go back to the optics on their Sniper rifles to -zoom- back out to the boats and buildings area of the docks. Only CPL Sibley was taking a long time reloading his M16. It wouldn't load properly and while the firefight snapped back and forth and the shouts and shooting and explosions went on in the docks area at Coco Solo this Lightfighter Sniper was wasting precious seconds pulling SPORTS on his service rifle. After the third attempt to charge the M16A2 the sniper noticed that when he "Slapped up on the magazine" part of SPORTS, a round fell into his hand... This is not supposed to happen and he thought he had knocked the floor plate off the magazine. Then the sniper turned the rifle over and noticed he had succeeded in jamming his 30 round magazine into the magazine well upside down and wedged it in "tighter than turtle pussy" (an expression 1SG Ripka introduced me to). This sight caused the combat-cherry-busting-right-now Sniper to laugh hysterically amidst all the noise. His laughing in turn made SPC Nelson, already back behind his M21 and blasting away - to look over and with a puzzled grin, shout, "What!? What's funny!?" Using the power of his EIB, the Sniper yanked out the upside down mag, turned it over and what do you know!? - The M16 locked and loaded on the first try. Shaking his head and still laughing, he grabbed his M24 and replied to SPC Nelson, "I'll tell you later." They then went back to suppressing enemy fire. This is why it is important to put your mags in your mag pouches the same way - every time.

Take a little bit of time - 5 minutes, and create that email, send it out to the Buffalo's you know and copy Don. Then click on this post's COMMENTS link and let us know you were here. You only need to put your name and affiliation with LightBuffalo in this post's COMMENTS area once.

Thanks from all of us at Light Buffalo.
