FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 29, 2006
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla.—Scott E. Davis, director, military operations at Communications International Inc., received a special honor recently, thanks to one of his employees. Jonathon P. Vey, a sergeant in the Florida Army National Guard, initially nominated Davis for an Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Patriot Award for his support of Vey’s military service. Davis then became eligible for a higher award. Of 515 nominations, Davis was one of seven bosses selected throughout Florida to receive the Florida Chair’s Above and Beyond Award. At the annual awards banquet, David Bludworth, state ESGR chair, recognized Davis’s contributions.
In the nomination for the Patriot Award, Vey noted that Davis fully supports drill dates and training. He wrote, “He even medivaced an injured soldier from the 44th CST/WMD unit from south Florida to Jacksonville for medical treatment at no cost and on his own time without any hesitation. He has organized the donation of over $1 million of state-of-the-art communications equipment and communications gear for our state training center.” Additionally, Vey noted Davis got bullet-proof vests and computers donated for the military and Camp Blanding police department. He also employed more than 20 Guard members/family.
“I have never worked for a more supportive employer,” Vey concluded. ESGR is a Department of Defense agency established in 1972 to gain and maintain active support from all public and private employers for the men and women of the National Guard and Reserve. As the 1.2 million National Guard and Reserve members continue to perform an increasing number of unique missions within and beyond America’s borders, ESGR will continue as the contact agency for questions and information regarding programs supporting the relationship between civilian employers and their military employees.
ESGR committees serve in the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam, the Virgin Islands and Europe through a network of more than 2,500 volunteers. About 100 members comprise the Florida committee. For more information about ESGR’s programs and services, call the toll-free number, 1-800-336-4590, or visit www.esgr.org.

I'd love to find a way to contact Davis. Davis and I were buddies during the Ft. Travis deployment for the month we stayed up north doing guard duty on Rapid Deployment Equipment. That was a fun trip. Does anyone remember me almost cutting my arm off the night Davis and bunch of guys tied me up?
