Wentzel's Rangers

Colonel Wentzel and Son, SSG Sam Wentzel sport their awesome "Ranger Tab" tattoos. As a lot of you know, Colonel Wentzel commanded 3-17 in the mid 1980's. His son is currently serving with the 2nd Ranger Battalion and recently returned from his sixth tour in Afghanistan.

May God's blessings be with you Sam ... I can't say enough for today's generation of soldiers and patriots.

Holy cow, that brings back memories. I went to CSC 3/17 in October of '80 as a young 18 year old and LTC Wentzel was BN CO. Company CO was Johnson, and for the life of me (getting old) I can't remember the 1SG's name, but he was the best 1SG I had during my 6 years at Ord. 6th tour for your son, holy smokes!

LTC Wentzel, THE Bull. Best Bn CO I had in 20 years of service. I remember hearing some of our company LT's talking about the Colonel playing with his toddler son Sam. About how proud he was of his son. The Bull has good reason to be proud, he did a fine job raising a Great American.
