3-17 Medics
MIA
It's been a few years since I've posted information on this "Light Buffalo" blog and I'm going to start posting again on a regular basis. My three year term will be up in a few weeks and I'll be able to devote more time to keeping everyone that served with the 3-17 and 4-17 Infantry Battalions connected. As always, please feel free to contact me if you have photographs from your time at Ft Ord. If you have 35mm negatives, I can scan them into digital photos, then return the negatives. I can also scan photographs, but that takes a little more time (I'll take whatever you got and as always, I'll return the originals when finished.)

"Black Palm" exercise: Panama - JOTC - 1986 - 4th BN
A few years ago, Duane Davis sent me some great pictures of our time in Panama and recently, another friend, Randy Malone from Bravo 4-17 sent me some as well. I'm showing Duane's first, then you can see photo's from Randy, who was directly across from Duane when they were taking these pictures. Good stuff!
Same shot from across the battalion formation. I believe you can make out Duane as well.

This is a great picture of Boss Buffalo, Frank Norton. Unfortunately, Colonel Norton, unexpectedly died of a heart attack in June of this year. He was a great leader, buffalo, and friend. RIP

Wentzel's Rangers

Colonel Wentzel and Son, SSG Sam Wentzel sport their awesome "Ranger Tab" tattoos. As a lot of you know, Colonel Wentzel commanded 3-17 in the mid 1980's. His son is currently serving with the 2nd Ranger Battalion and recently returned from his sixth tour in Afghanistan.
May God's blessings be with you Sam ... I can't say enough for today's generation of soldiers and patriots.
