Adrian Vrolyks served wit A 4-17 from 1989 to 1992. He is now a Moterey County Sheriff and also served with the 870th MP Company of the National Guard in Iraq from April 2003 to April 2004.
1. A load of unused AK 47s discovered near Karbala.
2. "Neva" was the sister of a local we knew in Karbala. They would often bring us food and frozen bottles of water, which was nice considering the average daily temp there was approximately 130 F.
3. Was taken at Baghdad Airport. The 870th was tasked with weekly runs to Baghdad to transport US currency back to Karbala. It was used to pay the police, city officials and to help stimulate the economy there. We would haul anywhere from 3 to 17 million. On the day I went an imbedded reporter from the Wall Street Journal went with us. The story was front page. "Getting cash to Karbala via ambush alley" was the name of the article I believe. It ran in Aug of "03".

Correction on the Wall Street Journal article. I think it was actually titled "Paying Iraq The Old Fashioned Way".
vrolyks you friggin stud. well done on the return to service. we'll get some peeps to make some calls and get you back into an infantry unit. cause i know you miss the blue cord and disks on dress-up day...huh/ dontcha? a little bit?
